Not The Typical Way to Paint a Chalkboard Wall~

Sometimes you want to paint a chalkboard wall that isn't the normal black or green.  There are ways to make your own chalkboard paint.  But here is an easy-peasy way to turn any paint into chalkboard paint.  And it's how I created the chalkboard wall in the loft bedroom.

It's called Clear Chalkboard Coating by Americana.  I got a sample in my swag bag from SNAP! last year and finally got around to trying it when I decided that I wanted to create a chalkboard wall for the loft bedroom, but wanted to use paint we already had.

Gray Scale Canvas Wall Art~

When it came down to styling the loft bedroom, I wanted the art to really make a statement without being overpowering.  And I wanted it to be sophisticated while still looking appropriate in a boys' bedroom.

If you recall, the first piece of art which we created for the room was the scrap wood wall art. I loved it and it was exactly the sort of art which I had envisioned for the space.  But when I realized that I still had a large empty wall space that required artwork, I had to think up something that was just as simple and just as visually appealing.

An Ingenious Way to Hang Curtains~

I'm so glad you're here!

One of my favorite projects that I've ever created was the  Loft Bedroom in our previous townhouse!  Part of the reason I loved this project so much was the fact that it forced me to think outside the box to make an awkward space into one that is both good looking and functional!

Since the loft bedroom was in the loft (unexpected, right?) we had to come up with a way to give the space some privacy.  And the ingenious solution I came up with is what I want to share with you today.

Putting the Finishing Touches on the Loft Bedroom~

We're in the final stretch on the loft bedroom.

I picked up a few more items last week from one of my favorite stores (can you tell which one from this photo?)

This is the part of putting together a room that I love the most...styling it.  Finalizing the fabrics, picking out the accessories.  Seeing the vision that was in my head come to life.

I'm so excited to share the room reveal with you...at the beginning of next week!

Y'all come back now, ya hear?

Anxiously Waiting for Spring~

I'm jumping right from Valentine's Day posts to spring.  This winter has been one of the coldest and snowiest in a long time here in Utah.  I love snow.  I do.  But a girl can only take so many snowy, foggy, smoggy days before it starts to wear on her.

It was in the forties here last week, and I honestly thought it felt like spring.  I am soooo ready for spring.  I am anxiously waiting for warm breezes, longer daylight hours, and the fresh start that spring brings.

DIY Valentine's Pallet Sign~

I was in a Valentine-y mood this weekend, so I decided to create a great BIG Valentine sign for my family.  What does one use to create a great BIG Valentine sign?   Well, in my case I decided to repurpose a pallet.

The pallet used to be art in the boys' bedroom with a cardboard deer head hanging on it.  But when I updated the antlers I received from my mom, they ended up in the boys' room.  And even though I thought the cardboard deer was adorable, two deer-related art pieces in that one room was a bit much for me.  So down came the pallet...and now it's a fun Valentine sign.
